The activity
supports an awareness of fruit, colour, aroma, young children's fine
motor skills such as scissor control and pincer grip, providing an opportunity
to exercise the hands, wrists and practice hand-to-eye coordination.
The more interesting an activity is the better it is for helping to extend
a child's concentration and focus.
Make the net squashies by untying a bath puff and unravelling
the tubular mesh. Knot one end. To minimise waste place a ball of dough
inside the net tubing close to the first knot and then make another to
secure the dough inside. Cut this bag from the netting length and repeat
as many times as possible or until you've created the required number of
squashies. Trim where needed and add to play.
