What
to do with playdough? if you've run out of inspiration for
ideas on using your playdough, or Play-Doh
we may have a solution!
Dough in its basic state is awesome, it rolls, cuts out, pretend bakes
and you may even be fortunate enough to be served some inedibly-yummy wares
on a plate :) Repeating this process however, over and over again can sometimes
become a little, well, stale, and it's at this point you could consider
adding something extra to your dough, to see if it takes on new lease of
life ..
Maybe suggest a topic, for example the flowers in the garden, a spider
weaving a web, an elephant taking a shower or what's up in the sky?! Varying
the tools that accompany the dough can also reinvigorate interest: scissors
& glitter, fir cones & leaves, potato masher & rice, wooden
blocks & toy cars. The character printables you'll find across
the site offer the chance to storytell, role play and rhyme: Merfolk,
Grumpy
Troll, Incy
WIncy Spider With the addition of golf tees, balancing becomes
the focus: Hickory
Dickory clocks, Claw'some
crabs and by adding scent to the dough you invite even more of the senses
to play: orange
squashies, vapour
rub mint, lemon
pancakes, lavender
hugs and festive gingerbread
or cranberry.
Rolled sheets or mounds of dough also make wonderful mosaic and collaging
foundations for designing surface patterns and sequences. And if you're
feeling adventurous you can even light up your dough creations with LEDs,
batteries & clips to complete a circuit!
A camera to record everyone's efforts is always a lovely finale and a
doughy diary would be great fun to revisit nostalgically or for prompting
future activities.
As you can tell we love dough and not just in its flour & salt form,
there are many play
dough recipes to try out along with other mouldable compounds such as
marzipan
and bird
seed pastry!
