Playdough
ideas for fine motor skills
Playdough is an great material to
help develop children's fine motor skills. Activities that involve positioning
loose parts into, and over the surface of dough requires eye to hand coordination
that's associated with developing cognitive and sight precision. Cutting,
inserting, threading and rolling out the playdough all help to exercise
the pincer grip motion - fore finger and thumb, strengthening the muscles
in the hands and refining the dexterity of the fingers. This actions enable
children's pre-writing ability in that they learn how to grip, add pressure
and purposefully steer mark making tools.
