Play-Doh
ideas, things to make
From totems to peas, droplet shaped mice,
cubes stacked in towers or morphed into dice, Hasbo's Play-Doh is a perfect
catalyst for the fizz & spark of imagination. As a child
I'd have models sometimes intentionally hardening on the windowsill, baked
by an energised sun and even now, just a few (*cough) years later I sit with
a tub on the shelf next to me, a prehensile chewy akin to the storm of fidget
toys making the list of aids supporting concentration, focus and aiming
to soothe the furrows of anxiety. A small ball of this * 'vanilla-like fragrance'd putty plays happily
in my left hand as the right types a touch more thoughtfully!
On the website Play-Doh has been used exclusively in the Incy
Wincy Spider activity and Hasbro GB have their own gallery
of awesome things to make. Recreate questions that suppose
a tale, 'Who visited the bird table this morning?' 'What will the weather
be like tomorrow?' 'How tall is a giraffe's neck, how long are its legs?'
'Where are the sprinkles for the birthday cake?' pave the way for
a storyboard of modelling that helps to cement some time together.
A dictionary can also be useful for those blank-moments,
select a page number between x and x, take a noun and a verb and combine.
Plan a canvas or frame for the Play-Doh activity, be it a sheet of
paper, tied twigs or a lazy susan and photograph the various stages of the
project's development.
